Message from the President
|
Japan depends upon imports for almost all of natural resources including metals, which are subject to various trends such as sharp increases in prices, difficulties in establishment of project in specific areas and increased complexity of such projects, and intensive competition among major international companies.
Therefore, securing a stable supply of resources is an important issue for Japan to sustain the national economy and society.
Our organization, named Japan Mining Engineering Center for International Cooperation(JMEC), was founded in 1976 as a nonprofit organization, in order to support the stable supply of mineral resources effectively, under the cooperation between governmental authorities and private mining companies.
JMEC was reorganized in July of 1991 to extend its activities to the technical assistance in the metal mining activities for the mutual benefits of resource - rich countries and Japan.
JMEC executes concrete activities such as assistance of training for personnel related to mining, project finding of international cooperation for mining development and regional survey for mineral resources.
Through these activities, JMEC contributes to the reinforcement of international relationships between resource - rich countries and Japan, and supports national resource diplomacy.
In order to achieve the main objectives, we continue to strengthen the activities with your sincere supports and encouragements. It is also our desire to contribute to the prosperity of mining industries for all over the world.
